We encountered
some very large hail as we drove under the updraft, but not a single
one of the largest (tennis to baseball-sized) hail stones hit the windshield.
We got lucky, and we got lucky again as we plowed south of Crosbyton
through the hail shaft for the second time to get ahead of the updraft.
The storm had moved off the caprock, which meant we had bad road options,
but I think we made some good choices.
