T-shirt and DVD Giveaway!

With only one limited edition Stormgasm.com t-shirt remaining, I thought it would be nice to give it away to a lucky commenter here on Stormtalk. All you have to do is leave a comment in this thread, responding to the question below. Then, on September 10, I will announce the winner, who will be selected using a random number generator.

To make things more interesting, the winner will also receive a 2003 Tornado Highlights DVD from Stormgasm.com. All the winner has to do is email me their name and address, and I’ll have the t-shirt and dvd shipped to them. Just make sure you leave a comment in this thread responding to the question below to be entered in this contest.

Good luck!

The question: Among all the videos of tornadoes available on youtube, on storm chaser websites, and on DVDs and video tapes, which tornado is your favorite, and why?

(Feel free to elaborate, especially if it’s video of a tornado you saw personally, or were affected by in some way. Also, you can list more than one video if you have more than one favorite. But, let’s try to keep this to a maximum of five.)

  1. It’s tough to choose, there are a lot out there that are just stunning. But,I am going to just go with the events of May 3rd,1999 here in OKC area.I was living here (still am) and had just woke up for the day.I worked midnights,it was my day off.As soon as I turned the tv I was glued to the footage coming out of Chickasaw,OK. Basically, any video on youtube I watch from this event. There are a few from chasers I have been able to see.The main video I have, and that would have to be my favorite, is the one that was actually sold by KFOR called Mays Fury. I used to watch this video at LEAST once a year, and every time,it was like reliving that day.I won’t go into that here, but it was a very emotional time. One of these days I do need to convert that VHS over so I can watch again.Technology now of course,no vcr’s ;)

You can still watch this video on youtube, someone has uploaded it in parts. It doesn’t take long for my heart to start racing watching that monster barreling down on my “home”. It doesn’t take long for the tears to start once you start seeing debris fly….

  2. Mine would be the one where Reed intercepts the tornado and cant get the window/window shield up and the glass gets him in the face. Its my favorite because it was an intense moment and it shows their vulnerability and unpredictability of storm chasing and how they are putting their lives on the line.

  3. Kingfisher County, Oklahoma Tornado of May 19, 2010. My friend was chasing this sucker and it was impressive. I live in New England and I am a Student Meteorologist however I thought this Tornado was unbelievable. This Tornado was shot in part of the NW and Central Oklahoma Tornado outbreak. I believe my friend said that Severe Storms Studio was near there like on the other side. You could see there video somewhere on youtube. I saw my friends video and that monster was great. He is chaser out there while I am a Severe Storms Chaser in New England. I love how people will laugh to that. So be it! New England had 12 Tornadoes this year and I intercepted 1 however was to dangerous to film…. My dash cam got some photos, but I was near a lightning strike so it was dangerous. However the OK outbreak of this year was my favorite!

  4. I cant recall a single “better than” but I sure the heck wanted my name in this drawing. I guess I’m more drawn to the photos, that single moment forever captured. Dont get me wrong the action is sweet, mabey I’m just old fashioned, but I enjoy looking at the enviroment surrounding. Mox Nix, none wouldent be there without all of you, so thank you. P.S. thanks to simon who stayed at our hotel and gave me a reason to look up this sight.
    GREAT PIC’s NATURES COLORING ROCKS!

  5. I’m really wanting a copy of KFORs Mays Fury DVD – please email me at ok_blessed@yahoo.com if you can help me. thanks
