Initial forecast area was for a large area extending from Midland, TX to Northern TX Panhandle. We drove south of Amarillo, TX on 385 to Springlake, TX. Under clear skies we thought it was a bust, but.....very small cumulus began to form to our east. A tower finally took off and the first picture decribes that tower in a thousand words (small).

We drove south and west to intercept a small supercell. Near Matador, TX. This cell had a very narrow hail shaft. But the most impressive cell was pretty far to the east, shown in the two impressive pictures. We caught this cell just before nightfall. It had a large rope funnel and a large bowl wall cloud when we caught up to it near Crowell, TX.
